Living on the coast…any coast…can be a very dangerous affair with Mother Nature if you’re not careful with her. Massive floods have crept up on populations all over the world in its bid to keep coast lines the domain of marine dwelling animals.

Amish-beach-houseBut the coast is a lure that is hard to resist, so we risk our lives for the serenity, beauty and power that only coastal living can bring. But risking life on the coast doesn’t have to be a crap shoot. There are ways to manage that risk.

If you are intent on living by the sea, you should talk to this Amish family from Missouri in the United States. Their previous home in Texas was destroyed by Hurricane Ike that made landfall over Galveston Texas on September 13, 2008. (Talk about a bad luck day).  Hurricane Ike was one of the most destructive hurricanes to ever hit the United States and this Amish family wasn’t going to let it happen ever again.
